Blueprint for Baluch Nationalism
word doc
A number of international observers' are found seemingly
opinionated over the diversifying and ever changing account
of Balochistan. Perceiving, the verity, that the monumental
homeland of the Baloch people is entering a new and sinister
political period. Notwithstanding, the regions suffering
from high volume impair. The Obama administration intends
to further degenerate the turmoil by extending its drone
attacks in the province to seed out elements of ‘militancy'
and ‘extremism.' The extra-judicial killing of three
brave Baloch leaders (may Allah bless their souls) could
have not originated at a worse time, when the Baloch
nation is already enduring an evaporating battlefield.
The release of UN official John Solecki had furnished
a nature that could have helped in exposing the sufferings
of the Baluch populace and the non-complicit nature of
native Baluch people within the international paradigm.
In the first week of April on his visit back from Kabul.
Visiting U.S. Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral
Mullen expressed a strategic concern – sparking yet another
devastating impact on the people, when he surfaced U.S.
foreign policy's future intention to extend drone attacks
on the tribal areas of Balochistan. However, the central
government of Pakistan assured the province; Mullen's
statement is in a ‘mode' of facade, and they ( Pakistan
's central authority) intend to remain robust over the
prevention of yet another brutal havoc.
Now, the main
motive here is not to elaborate over the mournful events
mentioned above, but to discuss exactly what is in-stored
for Balochistan i.e., if the attacks are conducted
for an obscure U.S. grand strategic reason; Extremists/Taliban
are rid of; Baloch's sovereignty is revived and bounced
back. The implementation of recognising Balochistan
as lets say a ‘princely state,' - projecting
the republic as a ‘secular' nation. Let's just imagine
for all or any of the above mentioned aspects to possess
somewhat weight (which in theoretical terms does). Then
what! Will it eventually blossom unity and faith amidst
our nation and necessitate the impoverishment of Baluch
nationalists or would it give birth to a number of obstacles,
that We' pure nationalists forces, synonymous to the
tribes of Afghanistan in the post-Soviet era, will not
be potentially competent enough to sustain, nor associate.
As Selig S Harrison stated in his book, In Afghanistan's
Shadow: Baluch Nationalism and Soviet Temptations , “Baluch-majority
could eventually adjust their borders – seek adequate
financial support with the influx of large-scale migration” Harrison
conversely also exposed his sceptical assumptions stating, “such
a state would automatically prove to be politically instable.” He
indicated traditional Baluch rivalries for power and
domination, which would promptly collapse the hope of
a minuscule generation, equal to the task, which if given
a chance to govern, will render constructive results.
They will discover themselves once again flaunting anti
slogans and confronting riots only this time amongst
each other.
The takeover of civil-military bureaucratic
regimes in Balochistan since post-independence has
ignited a fireball in the 21 st Century. Many Baluch
members and various committees have already began to
[foresee] an independent Azaad Baluchistan – displaying the end of
Pakistan's ‘civil-military colony' in the rich region,
whilst, it gives birth to yet another, only now, a ‘Super-Power'
to come and take its place. Since most nationalist forces
have already confirmed their support towards any international
aid – it seems more likely that the Baluch nation will
move one step onwards – transforming themselves to abide
their (western) sense of democracy. I guess in some hypothetical
terms, it can be considered more dominant to be a labour
of a global [corporate] power, despite being the “midnight
oil” of a system that has already been enslaved by our
future masters.
Till now, many readers may have assumed
a number of avocations regarding this document, with
regards to what may have been authorised. The only
key fundamental concern that has provoked myself to ‘put
pen to paper' is the consideration for the beloved nation
that has placed us, the Baluch nation, in a distinct
position. It can be formulated without a single thought,
that the royalty and the birth right of this prestigious
nation has been deprived by the ‘collective elite lobby'
of Pakistan – rendering
them with a life that only the indigenous population
of Baluchistan had the right to be subscribed too. Now,
under no circumstances is the [privileged] Baluch class
being pointed out here. The indication is towards the
sufferings of the displaced families and individuals,
who have and still are undergoing the most crucial hardships.
A more positive and powerful appraisal of Baluch nationalism
will come into existence when ‘unity' will be considered
as the supreme law within the Baluch paradigm. It
is easier to unite against a common ‘foe' throughout
an independent struggle, but it can be extremely hard
to consolidate unity afterwards . We as Baluchi's
should look beyond the obvious, by turning back to
our traditional roots [what makes a Baluch a BALUCH].
Unity and peace are elements that will have to be given
keen attention. However, if a “tin pot puppet dictator” comes
into power – secures dictation to run a customary region
like Baluchistan , then God help us. It will only elevate
more unique elements only this time, they will be titled
by the then in puissance as traitors, anti-Baluchistan
or most possibly extremists. It is very much plausible
from the then despotic leader of Baluchistan to prevent
harm to their fruitful position: freedom and sovereignty
will remain a dream yet to be attained - history will
repeat itself, and if the profound strength of the nation
is not congregated, then indeed it will. Ahmad Marri
